Role Overview
As a Data Scientist at Tennr, you will play a crucial role in building AI solutions that automate and optimize complex healthcare back-office operations. This involves working with diverse, often unstructured, healthcare data (e.g., medical records, billing codes, insurance claims) to develop intelligent systems for data extraction, process automation, and anomaly detection. Your work will directly enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and improve patient care by streamlining administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machine learning models for information extraction, document understanding, and process automation in healthcare workflows.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate model performance and identify areas for improvement in accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deploy models into production.
- Clean, preprocess, and analyze large, complex datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity for model training.
- Research and apply advanced AI/ML techniques, particularly in NLP and computer vision, relevant to healthcare document processing.
Required Skills
Strong programming skills in Python. Expertise in machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow). Proven experience with NLP, including advanced techniques like transformers and LLMs, and/or computer vision for document analysis. Strong SQL skills. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and MLOps. Understanding of statistical modeling and experimental design. Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, ICD-10) is a plus.
Interview Process
Tennr's interview process typically involves an initial recruiter call, followed by a technical phone screen focusing on Python, SQL, and ML fundamentals. Candidates then usually complete a take-home challenge or participate in a live coding session. Subsequent rounds include a technical deep-dive with team members, a system design interview, and a behavioral interview with the hiring manager and potentially a cross-functional leader. Expect questions on healthcare data challenges.
Salary & Compensation
The typical salary range for a Data Scientist at Tennr is $150K-$220K. This compensation package generally includes a competitive base salary, equity options (stock options or RSU equivalent), and a comprehensive benefits package covering health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as opportunities for professional development and a flexible work environment.
